National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA)

HWA has extensive  experience with NEPA and has prepared Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental  Assessments and Biological Assessments and Evaluations for  a wide variety of projects.  Since 1985 HWA has completed wildlife and vegetation sections for over one hundred NEPA documents related to: 

  • underground, open-pit, and in-situ mines for coal, uranium, trona, and gravel
  • oil and natural gas development
  • pipelines
  • reservoir expansion
  • big game or sensitive species management
  • highway development, fencing, and improvement
  • seismic projects
  • transmission lines
  • timber sales
  • grazing allotments
  • abandoned mine reclamation

HWA offers the full range of wildlife, vegetation, and wetland services required for  obtaining permits to mine.  HWA personnel  have carried out baseline studies and written materials required for  state and/or federal permits to mine and/or have conducted annual biological monitoring surveys and written annual reports for numerous mines in Wyoming,  Utah, Idaho, and Nebraska.
