Avian Protection Plans
There are three main federal statutes that provide protection for birds: Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, and the Endangered Species Act. In addition, federal land management agencies enforce various distance and timing restrictions associated with certain bird nests for projects requiring federal permits. HWA biologists develop avian protection field guidelines to ensure that our clients and their contractors are aware of and comply with all federal and state regulations pertaining to migratory birds, including species listed under the Endangered Species Act, and to provide guidance and protocols for when field personnel encounter birds and/or nests on and around property and facilities.
